Experience

I have many years’ experience teaching French to English speakers and English to French speakers. Born in France, I’ve lived in England, Australia, and southeast Asia prior to moving to The Woodlands in early 2013. I am a native French speaker but am also fluent in English. My teaching experience includes students in elementary, high school and college, in the classroom and privately. I have also taught adults, in corporate settings and privately. I have developed materials to go along with my tutoring and can accommodate students from the beginner to advanced. My teaching method focuses on individual needs, whether that be improving grades in school, addressing the complexities of French grammar, or providing conversational skills for tourists, business travelers, or those relocating to a French speaking country. My teaching is also ideal for anyone who wants to gain knowledge on French language, history, culture and customs, colloquialism, regional differences, food, etc. Teaching French within the context of French culture facilitates greater understanding and makes learning relevant and more interesting. Beyond teaching, I’ve worked in a professional capacity as office manager at an oil & gas startup in Scotland and quality advisor at a not-for-profit in Australia. My rate is $50 per hour, dropping to $40 if 5 or more sessions are booked and paid in advance.

Hobbies

I like to work body and mind. I exercise and play tennis. I usually get an eclectic choice of books over Christmas and give myself the year before the new pile arrives. I like to read and talk about anything to do with food, wine, history and travelling and issues/differences on education. Having lived in Australia, I have also developed a passion for coffee, from sourcing, to roasting, to crafting to drinking.
